Online Workshops
These four seasonal online interactive workshops provide a way for us to travel through the seasons together, to understand the flowers and different considerations for designing at different times of the year, and to delve into a particular arranging technique. And, perhaps most importantly, these workshops also allow you to ‘check back in’ with Cissy, each time with a more advanced understanding of floral design.
As you progress through the four seasons, your understanding of floral design during the sessions will be deeper. Things that might have gone unnoticed a season earlier will resonate. And you can ask questions on issues that you have faced during your self practice.
A cutting list will be added to these pages, and sent via email, in the run up to the workshop, allowing you to gather the same (or similar) materials to ‘arrange along’. Alternatively, you are welcome to just watch and ask questions. And of course, if you are unable to join the session, they will be recorded and uploaded so you can watch them back at a later date.
Winter
February 26th 1pm UK
A time of dormancy. When flowers are few and far between. When foliage, dried elements and diminutive stems take centre stage. How do we design with what is available? How far can we reframe what a customer expects from flowers? What are the key design considerations?

Spring
April 2nd 1pm UK
The start of the growing season, filled with zingy tones, flowering bulbs, blossom and emergent buds. Tender stems, with plenty of new growth means it is also a time for cutting, conditioning and designing with great care so flowers stay hydrated and fresh for longest.

Summer
July 2nd 1pm UK
The time of the quintessential ‘English country garden’. The first flush of roses. And the intensity of the heat, requiring attention to the handling, preparation, transportation and installation of flowers so they perform at their best. How also to select when we are almost spoilt for choice?

Autumn
September 25th 1pm UK
The peak time for British flowers (even though everyone thinks it’s summer). Abundance. Harvest. Flowers. Fruit. Seeds. Texture. Changing foliage. And the tap dance around events as the weather cools, the arrival of the first frosts and how to manage dwindling flower supplies.
