Winter Workshop

February 26th 1pm UK

Winter is regarded as the most challenging time to be a season-led florist… to which our response is, maybe… it depends on your business model.

A time of dormancy. When flowers are few and far between. When foliage, dried elements and diminutive stems take centre stage.

How do we design with what is available? How far can we reframe what a customer expects from flowers? What are the key design considerations?

Our first workshop of the year will explore these questions, as well as exploring the creation of season-led, sustainable farewell flowers. It might sound a bit morbid, but winter is often the most busy time for funeral work (apart from the festive mayhem). Understanding how to offer farewell flowers at this time of year (and obviously throughout the other seasons too) is important.

During the workshop, we will cover:

  • cutting and conditioning winter flowers

  • sourcing winter flowers

  • sustainable farewell flower mechanics including casket spray, sheaf and wreath

  • demonstration of a living wreath (which could be adapted for eg Mothers’ Day)

  • questions and answers

You can download the cutting list for the materials required if you would like to arrange alongside or after the workshop.

The zoom dial in will be emailed ahead of the workshop. The recording will be uploaded to the Videos section of the website following the workshop.
